American College of Radiology (ACR) Algorithms

BLUEBERRY DIAGNOSTICS has developed, as part of company’s non-profit development, several computer tools based on ACR’s RADS.

All these tools are totally free to use and they have been developed in order to help mainly radiologists, but also all health professionals, to better understand imaging procedures, such as mammographies, ultrasounds, MRIs, CT Scans, CT Colonographies, TV US or Ultrasonographies, as well as an easy way to get complete and fully detailed PDF reports from simple online forms.

Overview

The potential benefits of standardization are well known: improve communication between radiologist and clinicians; reduce omission of relevant information in reports; reduce variability and error in image interpretation; facilitate outcome monitoring and provide a tool for quality assurance and research.

In addition, the minimum error in the interpretation of the legend that describes the results of a study by image can modify both the medical decision of initiation or no treatment, or of doing it with a more or less invasive technique.

In this way, the American College of Radiology (ACR) started on 1993 the development of the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS).

In recent years, various disease oriented systems based on BI-RADS have been developed. However, their utility remains to be proven: efforts are being done to validate scoring systems and apply them to daily clinical practice.

BI-RADS is the only validated scoring system that is currently in use in clinical practice. Its utility has been demonstrated in research, education, and in quality improvement, but the other systems can also help physicians in cancer diagnosis.

RADS currently exist for Breast, Colorectal, Gynecologyc, Liver, Lung, Prostate and Thyroid cancers.

Online Reporting and Data Systems (RADS)

BLUEBERRY DIAGNOSTICS has implemented ―for training or educational purposes― online access for 9 out of the 12 currently existing RADS algorithms for cancer screening and detection. Use is free of charge and has unlimited access.
